Hi all.
I found this on glop.org and thought that it's worth mentioning.

http://www.glop.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=255

Highlights.:
- Copy protection and Stardock's (yes the winblinds people) view
- increased orders to that of 10x over the first game

I'm going to purchase this game to show my support.

I read that link and I am so impressed. I will be buying this game as well.
I do check games out though before purchase since they are so expensive these days and I buy so many.

If things check out I'm adding this one to my collection!
Quick link to the web site and what they had to say:
http://www.galciv2.com/forums.aspx?forumid=5&aid=21895&c=1

UPDATE: Wanted to tell everyone that Best Buy has this game already! Only 4 copies left in my store. Pro reviews are not out but reader reviews are and its hitting a 9! For a turned based game that seems very good and no Starforce! It's in my collection now too! I just reserved it!

Thanks for the post! These are the companies to support!

Thanks for the post!
STICKY MADE!

Yes! I saw this too. $39.00 CAN. It won't be on sale @Futureshop, Canada's BestBuy (we have both) until Mar 1st. Still. Great price for a new game. Smile

What I find most interesting is that this is a Ubisoft title, but the Author has chosen to go against Ubisofts Current Copyright Protecton Policy.

In doing so the profit levels have gone up. 'Not down' as Security Technologies claim they would.

OK so this an isolated case, but even the most hard nosed sales executive would have problems ignoring the figures involved.

I talked to Stardocks Larry Kuperman Wednesday. I asked him who Avatar Draginol really is here on their site: http://www.galciv2.com/forums.aspx?forumid=5&aid=21895&c=1
He said actually that is our CEO! So all I can say is WOW and BIG kudoos to the folks at Stardock.

He also told me that Starforce keeps calling them asking why they don't use their copy protection. And Larry told me Quote: "I told Starforce that they are the Devil and we want nothing to do with them."

I believe that says enough doesn't it!

For anyone who cares. Gamespot gave this game a 9.0 and an Editor's Choice award.

Stardock outsold the first Galactic Civilizations in North America in the first 10 days. Last week they were apparently the #1 PC game at Walmart.
Again with this success and the posts made about Galactic Civ II it makes you really wonder why Starforce posted the Bit torrent files linking to the Galactic Civ game and how they talked about how Galactic Civ was not SF protected.
Again, pointing out what I stated in the Cyber Shack interview..."Starforce does enough damage on their own to hurt themselves, they don't need us to do that."

Confused

Finally! It's in stock. I picked this up. I would've earlier, but there were other pressing financial issues.
Inside there's a leaflet for totalgaming.net. I went to the site and saw some half-decent games for digital download. One that caught my eye was the Earth 2150 triolgy for $9.95 - looks pretty cool.
From the flyer: "...Stardock's game distribution network where the hassels of copy protection are eliminated..."

So Mid did you get Earth 2150 ?? I was wondering what you thought of it? I don't have that one myself but if you thought it was good I would buy it. Good price for sure!

2150 was fun. 2160 is complete and utter crap. So buy the original and stay far away from the sequel.

Not yet, SC, 'need to replenish the game fund - lol. But I'm an RTS fan and from what 'Vryllyn'; thanks by the way, said I will be getting this when I can.
Gamespot gave it an 8.1 and the screens look pretty good for game released in 2000.

Speaking of digital downloads, I saw Ground Control 1 and 2 on Direct2Drive for 19.95, another RTS Very Happy
